Thank you for all the care expressed since my recent post. Your kind words are an encouragement to me and Jerry.

Today we had my first visit with an oncologist. We’d heard many positive comments about him from friends. They were right! We liked him and feel confident in his skills and care.

The bottom line is I will have surgery 12/30/2024 to remove the cancerous area. Lymph nodes will be mapped and tested. Eight-five percent of women do not need any chemo or radiation following surgery. We’re praying I’ll follow the crowd in this manner. Feel free to pray with us for this.

Between now and then, I have some further pre-op tests.

One of our greatest challenges is that I’ll not be able to do Jerry’s care for eight weeks. He is on the “crisis needs” list at the Agency on Persons with Disabilities. But there are hundreds of others on that list too. We’re not sure how quickly that will yield a result. Once he is at the top of the list, it doesn’t mean he’ll be provided caregivers, but rather that there will be some funding available to hire caregivers we recruit.

We are beyond grateful for our church friends and neighbors who serve as willing volunteers with us at home. Another prayer request is for the plethora of people we need to line up to help Jerry while I am “out of service.”

Even as we’ve learned some answers, there is still much waiting involved.

Our next “big” wait is to learn what was found in Jerry’s biopsies last week. That appointment will be next Monday 12/16.
